So much for getting this done early! I’m sure you know the schtick by now but just in case, the title says it all! Without further ado, I present this month’s Marvel villains: Deathbird, Juggernaut, and Dark Beast! Next month is my doctor edition of CCIV, so keep your eye out!
Deathbird
Shi’ar villainess Deathbird was first created in the late 70’s and right off the bat, let me tell you she murdered her mother and a sister (not her more famous one, Lilandra). After a lot of “I’M TAKING YOUR THRONE, MUAHAHAHAHA”, Lilandra allowed her sister to take control of the Kree Starforce and all was well for a while. Deathbird later met and fell in love with Bishop when the X-Men temporarily allied with the Shi’ar but she betrayed him later during Apocalypse’s rise and became one of the Horsemen of Apocalypse, War. After Apocalypse was defeated, she indirectly led to the fall of the Shi’ar empire by marrying Vulcan who then killed her brother, the Shi’ar Emperor D’Ken. Currently she has fled the Shi’ar Empire, along with the rest of her people.
Deathbird’s powers include superhuman strength, stamina, and sturdiness as well as possessing natural wings and razor-sharp talons.
For a decent story arc involving her, check out Uncanny X-Men #270-280!
Best Deathbird quote IMO: “Get your filthy hands off my husband, or I begin disembowling your friends.”
Juggernaut
Step-brother to one of the most powerful telepaths in the world, Charles Xavier, Cain Marko received his powers after holding a ruby in a hidden temple whilst deployed in Korea. After initially appearing in the 60’s to fight the X-Men, we don’t see much of Marko as he’s been banished to the Crimson Cosmos and doesn’t appear until the 70’s with an ally in tow, Black Tom Cassidy. He flip-flops a little between good and evil during this time period and is later shown to be reformed due to the influence of a little mutant boy named Sammy. Sammy’s death triggers another evil stint for Juggernaut which ends in him being stranded in the Mojoverse. Once he comes back from there, he’s sent to The Raft and after Xavier coerces Luke Cage to accepting him, joins the Thunderbolts. Currently, Juggernaut has picked up one of the seven Hammers of the Worthy during the Fear Itself event.
Juggernaut’s powers include superhuman strength, stamina, durability, a regenerative healing factor, and is virtually unstoppable.

Best Juggernaut quote IMO (and bonus points if you know what scene it’s from): “Sometimes women are just plain better than men.”
Dark Beast
Dark Beast is Beast in an alternate dimension that performed cruel experiments under the reign of Apocalypse. Think Mengele but dark grey and furry. He revels in his ruthlessness and has no qualms about harming others for gain. He created the Infinites and the Madri, as well as the Morlocks. He has jumped through time several times, sometimes aiding the X-Men but most of the time working against them. So far, I can remember only one instance in which he’s fought his counterpart due to Beast becoming enraged with Dark Beast’s methods but they were separated by a civilian. Currently, Dark Beast has been seen with the Uncanny X-Force to find a cure for Warren Worthington III.
Dark Beast’s powers include superhuman dexterity, agility, flexibility, strength, speed, reflexes, coordination, balance, endurance, senses, and genius intelligence as well as possessing identical fangs, claws, pointed ears like Beast.
For a good story line involving Dark Beast….let’s see. I’m going to recommend Uncanny X-Force because it’s what I’m currently reading and I’m in love with it. These issues cannot come fast enough.
Best Dark Beast quote IMO: “Logan’s not running this show, flower.”
Hope you enjoyed this month’s entry :D
