Microsoft finally has an official Xbox Live App, entitled “My XBox Live”. Some of you may be over the idea of this, having used third party apps to access your Xbox dashboard. I never did this however and I find it extremely cool to finally be able to. The app is available on the App Store today and you can use it on iPods, iPads, and of course iPhones that sport the IOS 4.3 update.
So let’s review, shall we? First and foremost, this app is free. As with most official apps, your portable window into their services aren’t where they want to get you. Come in, have a look around, for free.
The Interface is pretty slick. It very closely resembles the current new dashboard look with a lot of subtle animations. It does not import your current dashboard theme, though that would be an interesting update for Microsoft to work on. Or even its own mobile themes.
What does this app import? Your avatar, achievements, friends, messages and wardrobe. Yes, you can change your Xbox clothes on the fly now! I know a few people who will really enjoy playing with this option day to day.
You also have access to the top stories on the Xbox dashboard, which is a great thing, being that I never have time for those when I boot up my system to get some gaming in.
All an all, I love this app and it definitely gets a positive review. It can only get better in my opinion, and I’m sure Xbox will build on its functionality. I just hope they don’t get Microsoft Point crazy with it.
Sweet! Downloading this now
eh, i never really pay attention to my dashboard. I’d rather the limited space on my phone go to music or angry birds.
i’m on my xbox enough as it is! i secretly kind of wish i had this thought -_-“
