Is there any love truer than a love born from Bowie? Or Queen? Or Thin Lizzy? Well, maybe. However, you got to give it up to this week’s ship for having the most excellent soundtrack to their romance. Plus, it revolved around a sports movie I could actually watch for more than 20 minutes. For this, I give you the greatest couple loosely inspired by Chaucer: William Thatcher and Jocelyn.
He was a peasant; she was a lady…blah blah blah. Let’s forget about the boring stuff and talk about Jocelyn’s badass outfits and bitching spiky hairdos. I have a bit of a girl crush on the foxy lady Jocelyn so it’s no wonder William fell head over heals. Or maybe that was because he was literally falling head over heels off of a horse. Either way, Joce was looking for something beyond a noble title and an uncanny ability to knock someone off of a horse with a stick. Instead of swooning over his dedicated victories to her eternal beauty, she demands that he lose in the name of his love for her. Sadistic bitch, no? Yes, she’s great.
But what of William? The false knight posing as Sir Ulrich Von Lichtenstein from Gelderland is on a path to “change his stars” while becoming the baddest jouster in the land. What better way to announce your arrival to society than by hooking up with the hottest chick around? Still, he really does love Jocelyn and is willing to do some serious hoop-jumpage to win her heart. Check out this sweet letter he wrote her with some help from some more eloquent friends.
It is strange to think, I haven’t seen you since a month. I have seen the new moon, but not you. I have seen sunsets and sunrises, but nothing of your beautiful face. The pieces of my broken heart are so small that they can be passed through the eye of a needle.
I miss you like the sun misses the flower; like the sun misses the flower in the depths of winter. Instead of beauty to direct its light to, the heart hardens like the frozen world your absence has banished me to. I next compete in the city of Paris, I will find it empty and in the winter if you are not there.
Hope guides me, it is what gets me through the day and especially the night. The hope that after you’re gone from my sight, it will not be the last time that I look upon you.
With all the love that I possess…I remain yours…
The knight of your heart.
Aw.
William is finds himself very conflicted between his love for Jocelyn and his need to maintain his false identity. A short-lived conflict for sure, as Joce suspected that he possessed a secret identity all along (Ulrich Von Lichtenstein? Come on…) and doesn’t give two pig shits whether he’s a beggar or the king of England.
The pair eventually get their off in to the sunset moment to some kick-ass ACDC. Honestly, this couple has earned a week of appreciation because they’re just so damn fun. You won’t be spilling tears over these lovebirds and we appreciate the break from heart break.

I couldn’t find any good ones. People apparently rather ship Wat/Geoff, go figure.
I really liked this movie until it dropped the worlds biggest deus ex machina on the viewer. Thennnnnnnn, I was like “No.”
