Before I begin, let me ask you a couple of questions.
Have you been wanting to dive headfirst into the emotional maelstrom of comics and have zero idea where to start because you think there’s loads of backstory needed?
Are you particularly interested in what Marvel has to offer?
If the answer to both of these is a yes, then this will be the article for you.
Marvel NOW! is a shifting type of relaunch instead of a full reboot, with creative team changes, as well as resetting the issue numbers to #1, following the events of Avengers vs. X-Men. There is still ONE title to be released in the next month, but what should you consider completely avoiding in lieue of other releases? More importantly, which so far have been terrible?
I understand this is just my opinion and based minutely on fact (sales numbers in one case) and we’re not going to agree, but let’s get some healthy discussion going. Lord knows I’m gonna get some flack for putting a fan favorite on this list! These are in no particular order:
Cable and X-Force
Fearless Defenders
Savage Wolverine
X-Men Legacy
FF

All of these are awesome comics…
Nope. Terrible. Wanted to stab my eyeballs out looking at the art in FF & Savage Wolverine.
That is funny. I like the art in Savage Wolverine but I do not like the art in FF.

You don’t like Allred? Also there are way worse books than one that didn’t make this list. Thunderbolts for example. Thunderbolts is just baaaaaaaad.

You are so mental…stab your eyes out looking at the absolutely gorgeous art of Frank Cho….mental problems. The only thing I would agree with is X-Men Legacy…cuz that was just terrible. I dont care for anything in the Fantastic Franchise…and dont care about them…but the 2 issues of FF i have read were very good. Not going to judge on you not liking Allred’s art lol….pop art isnt for everyone so i get it. I actually enjoyed Fearless Defenders #1 and #2 and the covers for both and future solicited are great. Cable & X-Force is a good title I rather enjoy, well written…great team. Id say the 5 to avoid are X-Men Legacy, Morbius, Uncanny X-Force, Uncanny Avengers (which is actually the worst of them), Superior Spider-Man
We are welcome to disagree ^_^ Cho’s art makes me wanna gag myself so I faint. That’s not to say I don’t like some of his art sometimes but 90% of the time I dislike intensely. Allred I’ve always had an aversion to.
We’ve discussed our feels on X-men Legacy, F4 & FF so there’s that. Fearless Defenders was just so MEDIOCRE. Valkyrie is so fucking cool, but it was so droll.
Everything else you listed I’ll agree with, except Morbius…I’m waiting one more issue before I exact an opinion.
What’s the problem with X-Men Legacy, Uncanny Avengers, and Superior Spider-Man?
Legion is not a character I would ever give a title to. He’s not interesting to me at all. Is this the same for everyone? Nope! Uncanny Avengers just feels like one of those titles the Marvel offices just decided to throw in there following AvX and it’s bland.
Superior Spider-Man I actually think is okay, but feel the whole DocOck/Peter body switch is just silly. SILLY.
I am really liking Superior Spider-Man, but I am a major Spider-Man fan to begin with. it’s not silly… it’s different!
How is Captain America not on that list? It’s being drawn by JRjr which should make it an automatic lock
