Doth my ears and eyes deceive me?
Orson Scott Card’s sci-fi, child military, bug zapping epic “Ender’s Game” will be coming to the big screen in 2013.
Starring, wait for it, Harrison Ford as Hyram Graff, Asa Butterfield as Ender, Abigail Breslin as Valentine, Ben Kingsley as Mazer Rackham and Hailee Steinfeld as Petra Arkanian.
I first read EG in high school. I was so amazed by the book that I was afraid to read the next ones in the series. No joke, I was terrified that the follow ups might pale in comparison to the initial triumph.
Soon after that, I was introduced George R. R. Martin (Season 2, coming soon!) and I was swept away on tide of multiple story lines. Another post entirely.
I forgot to get to the rest of the EG series, which I’ll start getting to this week. It’s absolutely necessary.
Anyways, now, as with the book, I’m a little scared that the movie might not do it justice. However, the cast looks to be Spot On. Hailee Steinfeld? She’s a scene stealer for Jeff Bridges! AND INDIANA JONES/HAN SOLO IS IN IT!
I’m excited and terrified at the same time.
I legit just finished speaker of the dead yesterday. It’s technically not the next book, although it was written right after EG, i and takes place 3000 years after the bugger war (worry not, Ender’s only 35). Card has recently wrote books to fill in the gaps- so I’m not sure what you’d want to continue with. It’s definitely not as good as EG, but still better then a lot of things i’ve read. I’m silly excited about this movie(Harrison Ford? ZOMG). I like Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail, but both chicks are a too old for the parts.
