Nowhere Man was originally intended to be a comic co-created by Australian actor Hugh Jackman back in 2008 but it got stuck in comic production hell. Finally on the shelves as of last week, Nowhere Man is set in a futuristic society where the Omnimind is master of all. A single criminal thought has agents on your ass in a second to prevent all crime from happening (kind of like Minority Report) and you get zapped with a lot of pain called “feedback.” Mason was born out of an experiment leaving him outside of the Omnimind’s reach and without the red pattern that exists on everyone’s face. We learn more of Mason’s past in several flashbacks between him and his father and it’s a touching tale that leaves me a bit teary eyed. It’s a very interesting, albeit familiar, take on the science fiction genre. Mason seems to have something to prove (and after that ending, you can count my curiosity piqued) and he doesn’t seem like your average hero.

Kang does a stellar job for a sci-fi title. I don’t think he over does with the motion lines or shadowing or anything! Mason looks original, the pattern designs are neat. I haven’t seen any of his work before (could be because he’s Indian and hasn’t done much here) but I like it.

Definitely give Nowhere Man a chance if you love science fiction. If not, this may not be the title for you.
