This March, WonderCon, one of the worlds most iconic conventions, will be moving location after their most successful year to date! The convention hosted 49,000 attendees during it’s 25th anniversary back in 2011 at the Moscone Center South in San Fransisco. Luckily, for those of us who live in the Southern California area, the convention will be moved to the the Anaheim Convention Center located just across the way from Disneyland! With an exhibit hall filled with some of the greatest vendors, cosplayers, and comic fanatics around there will be plenty to do at Wondercon this March 16th through the 18th. The programming for this years WonderCon has yet to be released, however, already the list of special guests is growing with some of the most
renowned artist and writers in the comic industry. Jim Lee, the artist behind a majority of the character design for DC’s New 52, is just one of the guests at WonderCon this year. Along with Geoff Johns, Jim Lee was one of the top figure heads of DC’s soft-reboot this last year, as he and Johns were the team of the launch title JUSTICE LEAGUE.
On the writing front: Scott Snyder (current writer for New 52 titles BATMAN and SWAMP THING), will be at WonderCon. Before his recent work in DC launch titles, Snyder wrote IRON MAN: NOIR a mini series for Marvel as well as the Eisner-award winning series AMERICAN VAMPIRE . Mark Waid, a local of California, will also be appearing. Mark Waid is renowned for his eclectic collection of work, having worked in just about every publishing house, and several different titles. Currently he is working on two of his own titles: IRREDEEMABLE and INCORRUPTIBLE, as well as writing the latest launch of DAREDEVIL for Marvel Comics. There is of course more to do at WonderCon then meet the great Artists and Writers in comics. The Masquerade for instance, allows fans to express their costuming skills for all to see. This year’s Masquerade event takes place on Saturday March 17th at 8:30 PM. For further information on the Masquerade, such as rules, click here! No doubt once again WonderCon will provide the ultimate Convention experience! International House of Geek will be there, and you should too! You can register for tickets here! Hope to see you all at WonderCon, where I’m sure I’ll find some free stuff to give away.
I’ll be there!
