I was not impressed by Sucker Punch, which sucked because it had such potential. Aside from the soulless lead (Emily Browning), I did enjoy a few of the other girls in the ensemble cast but luckily, a stellar soundtrack kept this movie from dropping off my radar altogether.

The movie was soulless fun. The zombie nazis were my favorite
i mean…chicks fighting cool shit? win. chicks trying to escape from a brothel? win. chicks trying to escape their mental institution where they’ve been mistreated? win. just….not in the exact same movie in separate realities. again, i HIGHLY enjoyed the soundtrack but this was just bad.
I don’t think it was bad, but I also don’t think it was good. It was just a movie, that didn’t deliver on it’s promise to be empowering to females, but still had some cool action stuff. And although I wish many of the action pieces hadn’t been so rushed, I can call the movie “bad”, because I have seen bad movies and Suckerpunch is not one of them.
i couldnt stand this movie when i finally saw it, a year later on HBO. you’re right it had such potential, but sadly snyder wrote a most disturbing “fantasy get-away” from the situation. just my opinion, but i’d rather deal with the “reality” of living in a mental home than escape to a world where i’m a captive dancer even with a lobo… Oh i did appreciate the interpretations on how she was getting the tools to escape the actual ward, dragon- fire.. etc.. however; the whole time watching browning, i just wanted to shake her tiny lil body and scream at her for more emotion, and scream at snyder to give some better direction. i LOOOOOOOVE this art tho. it’s neat enough to take the bad movie after taste out of my mouth.
poor browning! she was given terrible reviews with sucker punch due to her lack of emotions. i didn’t buy her sexy “dance” one bit but i’m irrationally pissed it wasn’t included. director’s cut SUPPOSEDLY adds that and a few other goodies with jon hamm but debating on a second watch.

LOL probably :D
Emily Browning actually sings a few of the songs on the soundtrack.
