Aliens: Colonial Marines Sucks? Dammit.

Definitely not what the game ACTUALLY looks like

So all I have been waiting for this past week has been getting my mid-terms out-of-the-way, kicking back and relaxing, and renting Aliens: Colonial Marines from Gearbox.  I even have an Aliens: Colonial Marines poster on my wall that I got from Gearbox Community Day.  I proudly have it above my Xbox, almost like a triumphant tease to myself of the awesome that was surely to be.

But… all I am hearing is that Aliens: Colonial Marines is the worst piece of crap ever and that Gearbox lied to me and to everyone about its quality.  Even the ten minute demo they released months ago showing off all the graphics, lighting, and gun fights is 0% related to the game.

Defiantly, I continued to say, “Whatever.  They are all wrong.  Stupid IGN, Destructoid, Kotaku, Joystiq, and GameInformer.  I’ll show them all!”  But as the week continued and rumored Gearbox employees began pointing fingers and saying, “It’s not our fault“, the reality set in.  I’ll take my poster down and place it gently in the trash with shame.

I’m a big fan of Borderlands 1 and 2, and even got to tour Gearbox headquarters years ago when I won a contest.  I was left starry-eyed and amazed at how cool it all was, and I even got to see them developing Aliens and its “advanced lighting”.  I think I’m going to pass on buying that Borderlands 2 DLC I was considering and instead put my money elsewhere.  Thanks for letting me down Gearbox =(
