Not to be confused with her shitty incarnation in X2: X-Men United, Yuriko is the only daughter of Lord Dark Wind, who developed the adamantium bonding process that was later used on Wolverine. Daddy dearest did NOT perform this procedure on his daughter contrary to popular belief. She instead used Spiral’s “body shoppe” of horrors and upgraded herself. One of the few heroes to adhere to an honor code, Yuriko has had numerous clashes with the X-Men, specifically Wolverine to restore her family honor. Lady Deathstrike is currently alive via the internet so the next time you’re viewing something kinky, beware. Lady Deathstrike is watching you.
Lady Deathstrike’s powers include superhuman strength, speed, agility, and reflexes in addition to having an adamantium skeleton and retractable claw nails. She also possesses that nifty accelerated healing factor and is an excellent athlete and hand-to-hand combatant.
A good story line to try with Lady Deathstrike is Messiah Complex.
Best Lady Deathstrike quote: “You fought well, though. If you would like, I will make your deaths quick.”
Kraven
Kraven reminds me of General Zaroff in Connell’s famed short story of “The Most Dangerous Game.” In a state of mind where hunting the biggest baddest animals is no longer thrill enough, Kraven turned his sights to man and who else to hunt but the superhero of man, Spider-Man? This founding member of Sinister Six finally achieves this goal in the fan favorite story “Kraven’s Last Hunt” in which we are fooled into thinking that Spider-Man is dead. In a depressing end to the story, Kraven commits suicide having nothing else to live for. He is (of course) resurrected and was last seen in the current Venom storyline where he mistook Venom for Spider-Man (a rookie mistake).
Kraven the Hunter’s powers include superhuman senses, strength, speed, stamina, durability, agility, reflexes, and longevity. As you might guess he is an expert hunter and since he prefers to not use weapons, an excellent hand to hand combatant.
A good storyline involving Kraven is Marvel Zombies Returns (he has the BEST cameo) or you can read Kraven’s Last Hunt.
Best Kraven quote: “The mask of Spider-Man must one day cover that plaster head…even if I pay for the victory with my very life.”
Loki
Where does one even begin with the tricky younger brother of Thor? He is the god of mischief and for good reason! His skills at creating chaos have earned him the hate of many and he’s contributed to many attacks on the life of Thor. Forever second best to the golden integrity of Thor, Loki’s sense of mischief grew into malice and suddenly this trickster became dubbed the “God of Evil.” His schemes for revenge eventually stretched past Asgard onto Earth resulting in the Dark Reign and Siege events that rocked the Marvel Universe in the past couple of years. After being released into the sun as punishment for his crimes, Thor resurrected Loki in the form of a young boy as a chance to grow into a better being. Loki’s younger self can be seen in the current series, Journey Into Mystery.
Loki’s powers include mystical powers, telepathy, clairvoyance, shapeshifting, teleportation, moderate flight, super strength, durability and longevity, AND to top it all off, has a genius intellect. Perfect tools to wreak havoc!
A good storyline involving Loki would be…..well, I’m really enjoying his current story in Journey Into Mystery OR you can try the Dark Reign event books.
Best Loki quote: “Still if I was able to sow doubt and unrest among thy subjects…the day was a good one for Loki the Trickster.”
Tune in next month for CCIV:VIII! If you have Marvel villains you’d like covered, let me know!
All these male villains have “longevity” as a power…. *snickers like a fifth grader*
