So here’s the thing.
Sometimes I get exhausted trying to figure out what to write and while I’m currently balls deep into Supernatural (just started season 2) so I can write about my spiraling fangirl addiction about that, I figured we can have some fun together!
I wanna say a good 25% of us are writers at heart or even just enjoy a good fanfiction read every now and then so I present you with this challenge and don’t worry, the best challenges come with a prize!! So here’s the deal: there is a prompt at the end of this and all you need to do is leave a comment incorporating the prompt’s elements into a mini story. I don’t care how long it is, I’ll read it. I don’t care what fandom it is or if it’s strictly original characters.
This will be open until Monday, May 6th 11:59 pm CST. This will only get the usual share on our Facebook page & Twitter. What do you win?
You’ll get your choice of either statue shipped to ya.
Good luck!!
PROMPT: It’s Fourth of July and your characters decide to pop some fireworks. One of them is wearing a Santa hat. Include the phrase “Two is better than one… plus, it’s more fun!”

“Come on, Raven!” Beast Boy urged as he urged his impassive friend up the staircase.
“Remind me why it’s me whom you’ve decided to glue yourself to instead of oh say, a game controller or your endless supply of tofu?” Raven asked. annoyance dripping from every word.
“Because what we’re about to do is tons more fun than a video game or tofu!” The changeling exclaimed. “And coming from me, that’s high praise. I mean like super mega ultra high praise.”
“Indeed.”
As Beast Boy gently pushed Raven up the last of the steps and out the door onto the roof, he continued, “it’s even more fun than your meditation!”
“Meditation isn’t all fun and games, it’s relaxing,” Raven replied. “It’s also a form of recreation, which, if I’m not mistaken, is a meaning of fun.” Her violet eyes fell onto a brightly colored box standing proudly in the corner. “That is something I could have witnessed from the comforts and silence of my room. Why am I up here? Why not drag Cyborg up here instead?”
“Because Cy is on a date with Bee at the beach!” Beast Boy replied as he headed over to the box and started unpacking it.
“And you aren’t spying him?” The telepath couldn’t help the surprise leaking into her voice.
“Nah, I was too busy planning on tonight,” her friend answered as he continued to remove the box’s contents. “Besides, who says I haven’t planted anything on him?”
Raven rolled her eyes. Of course he had insurance in spying on his closest teammate. She watched in silence as Beast Boy started to arrange what had been the in box. Fireworks. After a moment, she shifted on her feet and asked, “do you need some help?”
“Do you want to help?”
“I don’t mind.” Raven walked over and started to line up the fireworks. She glanced at Beast Boy and noticed something red and white sticking out of his back pocket. “A Santa Claus hat?”
“Yup!” Beast Boy confirmed with a fanged grin as he whipped it out and stuck it onto his head at a jauntily cocked angle. He then pouted. “Man, wish I had a candy cane.”
“They aren’t on sale yet,” Raven replied. “Why are you even wearing that?”
“Robin wanted to give Star a proper Fourth of July so he had gotten to the Uncle Sam hat first,” Beast Boy answered. “But it’s okay, I love Santa! I can’t wait to do this again in a few weeks!”
“…don’t you mean in a few months?”
“Hel-lo! Rae! I’m talking about Christmas in July!”
“You’ll celebrate anything, won’t you?”
“Of course!” Beast Boy exclaimed as he popped up from his kneeled position. “It makes life worth living just a little bit more, even if it’s for the stupid commercial stuff I know you don’t like.”
Raven was silent as she contemplated his words. On one hand, it sounded like utter naivete and slight stupidity. On the other hand, it sounded like pure Beast Boy when he had that uncanny ability to make the world a little brighter.
Particularly her world.
Heedless of her thought process, Beast Boy pulled out a small box of matches. “Ready to light up the night sky, Raven?”
Blinking, Raven gave a slight nod, accepting a few matches. Together the two began to ignite the fireworks, doing so in small groups. “Happy Fourth of July, Raven!”
A small smile worked its way across her face. “Happy Fourth of July, Beast Boy.”
The two continued to light the fireworks, watching their beauty blaze into the air before exploding into showers of color and thunder. Beast Boy shifted in his place for a few minutes, clenching his hands together and glancing at Raven every few seconds. “What?”
“Can I hug you?”
That caught her off guard. “You want to want?”
“I want to give you a hug.”
His honesty surprised her. “I’m a little surprised and definitely grateful you haven’t glomped me.”
Beast Boy burst out laughing. “Raven! I can’t believe you just said that! Awesome!”
She rolled her eyes. “Whatever. If you want to hug me, fine. Just hurry up before I change my mind.”
“Geez Rae, it’s a hug!” The shape-shifter snickered. “You don’t have to act like it’s some form of torment.”
He gently wrapped his arms around the cloaked girl. “Happy Fourth of July Raven,” he said again, this time with some tenderness.
Raven hesitated before deciding to fully let her walls down for the night, laying her head on his shoulder and wrapping her arms around him in return. “I couldn’t leave you alone, that would be pathetic.” Alright, so she couldn’t quite get rid of her snark.
“Yeah, you’re right,” Beast Boy agreed, releasing her from the hug, yet still keeping one arm around her shoulders. “Two is better than one…”
The last of the fireworks shot up into the night sky.
“Plus, it’s more fun!”
