IHOGeek at AM2 2012!

THREE DAYS until the latest convention to hit the anime, manga and music scene, begins its second anniversary! Well, sort of. Last year AM2 took place simultaneously as AnimeExpo, but that doesn’t matter. Why? BECAUSE AM2 IS ONLY THREE DAYS AWAY! The new, and free to attend, convention starts this Friday at the Anaheim Convention center, where AM2 will be bigger and better then ever! June 15th -17th will be packed full of AM2 goodness, starting at 9 AM when the doors open! Last year AM2 broke convention records by being the most attended first year convention to-date! Over 8000 people attended the free to enter convention, which was occurring at the same time as AnimeExpo making that an even more impressive feat. This year more vendors and exhibitors are coming providing attendees with a wide selection of goods that can be purchased and usually at discounted prices! Judging by the Exhibtor list provided on the main website Am2 will be much larger then its initial run with not only more on the main floor, but a wider range of panels and events! Although the convention is free to enter, you can purchase a passport which will, among other things, give you preferred access to several of the conventions largest event’s. Passport benefits include; Access to Guest of Honor meet and greets as well as access to initial premier screening of premier films. Preferred access to: Autographs, Guest of Honor panels, Behind the Voice actors studio panel, the Masquerade and AMV events. Finally, all concerts are Passport ONLY event! One of the greatest things about AM2, however, is the interactive event AniMaid Cafe! Every day, between 11 am and 5 pm (4pm on Sunday) you can attend one of the AniMaid cafe shows! AniMaid cafe is an entertainment cafe, where guests interact with their maids or hosts while being served some delicious food! You can also play board games with the maids, such as Rock ’em Sock ’em Robots, and chat about anything from your favorite anime to how awesome you are. Personally, I can attest to how much fun these events are, as the maids and hosts of AniMaid cafe are some of the most energetic and kind people out there. Oh, and they have the most intense Jenga games you will ever see.
