I realize that this is a bit outside of our normal examinations into romantic pairings, but I was 15 when I saw the first The Fast and the Furious movie. FIFTEEN. As such, certain things seemed to grab hold of this romantic’s heart and that includes the somewhat troubled relationship between main characters Dominic Turetto (Vin Diesel) and Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez).
In case you haven’t had a chance to see this series of furiously paced movies about street racing and heists, the story centers around Dom Turetto, a semi-violent local street racer, who also happens to engage in some unsavory activities. He is the ringleader of a small group of like minded individuals, one of which is the dark haired sass mouthed Letty. Afraid of nothing and equally capable of kicking any ass necessary herself, her first words are to a pair of scantily clad ladies draping themselves across the man she’s claimed as hers: “I smell…skanks.” Dry humored, loyal, and with a streak of recklessness, they complement each other perfectly and the pair live in happiness for several sequels.
It’s only when Dom decides to leave her side in order to protect her from federal agents, that this love ends. In a brave move, Letty decides to sacrifice herself and play double agent in the hopes that their records will be wiped clean, but unfortunately…well, spoilers, sweetie. I just now realized I couldn’t possibly finished their tale without spoiling the latest F&F sequel, but I’ll have you know, it’s just as hot 10+ years later.
While I wouldn’t recommend joining your friendly neighborhood street racing gang, I WOULD recommend this sweet ass cross in case you want to channel our favorite bad girl.
Perhaps you’re not the cross wearing type, but keep re-imagining the scene where he picks her up by the ass in the garage? No? Just me? Okay, then, how about a poster that properly showcases that 2001 style that was all the rage?
Safe for all ages, this fic is a nice headcanon on how Dom and Letty came to be, from sweet friendship to ride or die love.
Completely inappropriate for children, this fic, um, heavily details on why the pair was made for each other.
Now that we’re all done fanning ourselves and sighing wistfully (no? still just me?), I leave you with an immaculately prepared slideshow on the couple nicknamed “Dotty.”
