I return for my second attempt at shipping something obsessively and I again turn my attentions to the Doctor.
What sort of relationship would you expect a mad man with a box to have with a woman who is hell in high heels?
It’s an answer stuffed with sexual innuendo, sassy encounters, and rife with tragedy.
We first met River back in Tennant days and we got to watch her heart break for reasons we were unaware of. That pair of episodes left many of us with more questions than answers, including what her relationship with the Doctor was exactly. Funnily enough, Ten was also left with these questions at the end of those episodes so it was nice to explore their relationship alongside him as he bade farewell to Donna (SOB) and regenerated into Eleven. Seasons passed and we got snippets of their relationship in between the revelation that their time streams flow in opposite directions so that the first time he met her, was the last time she saw him and we are rapidly approaching the last time he will meet River Song. Get those tissues ready, Whovians.
This pairing is one that’s surprisingly up in the air as fans tend to either love or hate River; there is rarely a middle ground. I feel they work wonderfully together as their banter is hilariously candid and, well, natural. The actors ooze chemistry and Alex Kingston has even gone on record on how fucking amazing it is to kiss Matt Smith. Oh, you wish to see it? Ask and you shall receive!
Please enter the url to a YouTube video.I must admit, when the mature woman with the fantastically curly hair appeared in the library, I wrinkled my nose in distaste, mainly because she acted so familiar with my Doctor (excuse me. TEN.) and I was still hurting from Rose’s departure. As we got to know how wonderfully ballsy she was, not to mention aggressive and brave, I couldn’t help but starve for more scenes with her. Matt’s Eleven is a quirky piece of work, from his clenched hands, almost nervous manner, and lack of eyebrows, and as we got to know him…River just felt right. She has seen him at his worst and at his best (to say the least) and with a wonderful way of communicating with her sweetie, this pairing is one for the books.
I know I like to bundle up in things of beauty, so to celebrate their love, check out this amazingly gorgeous scarf.
Maybe you’re not a scarf person but have no place to put all your earrings? This amazing jewelry box that looks like a certain Tardis diary is guaranteed to be spoiler free!
Speaking of jewelry boxes, you could easily put this necklace in it. Just sayin’.
Now that I have successfully infused you with the want to suddenly marathon seasons 5-7, let’s give you some options to fangirl/fanboy out your cell phone and computer, shall we?

Lastly, a pair of fanfictions to set you on your way, the first of which is a wonderfully written fanfiction for all ages, called Night Shift.
For those of you in the more adult audience who might like a saucy encounter or two, I offer this one called A Life Full of Spoilers.
Hope you enjoyed this and as always, leave me a comment or two, let me know your thoughts, wants, wishes, obsessions…I won’t judge you!

I think you and I have had VERY similar journeys regarding our relationships to River…except that I harbored hatred for her right up until The Wedding of River Song. Now she and I are okay. Thanks for such a great article!
