Ship of the Week: Finnick and Annie

We love couples.  We love love. Back in February we gave you our list of the best geek couples of all time, but who says that homage to our favorite cuddle-bugs should be paid but once a year? Not me, that’s for sure. So, to celebrate my Hunger Games swag that just arrived in the mail, I give you my personal favorite relationship of the trilogy: Finnick Odair and Annie Cresta: Beware ye all who fear spoilers through Mockingjay.

In Panem, if the Capitol can’t find a way to kill you directly, they’ll go after those you love. For Finnick, this meant fellow Hunger Games victor, Annie Cresta.  Just as Finnick grew on us readers, Annie grew on Finnick like some sort of barnacle(District Four humor). After his victory in the arena, Finnick was passed around the horniest of the Capitol’s higher-ups, while Annie just sort of went nuts. Alas, we’ll never know how exactly these two hooked up, perhaps with literal fishhooks (More District Four humor, yuk yuk yuk), but we’re so glad they did. Their pure love trumps the teen drama between our leading lady, the Boy with the Bread, and that other angry one every time. The Unsaid Story by Gemini.L.Beatrice – cute story, it’s unfortunately compliant with all three books so…well you know what happens. It starts right after Finnick wins the 65th Hunger Games. I enjoyed it a lot.

Scylla and Charybdis: by puellanerdii- same plot line as the other one linked, but with obviously different happenings. I liked this one too, mostly because it had a way cooler title.
