The developer kits are out to a few companies to start working on games for the next generation of gaming consoles. Whether or not this means we will see the most ridiculous titles for the new systems isn’t clear. An Xbox 720? A Playstation17? Hope not, but Nintendo has made sure no matter what Microsoft or Sony call their consoles, they will still have the most pathetically named console. The WiiU. Old news, I know, but worth mentioning how dumb it is once again.
Anyways, Ubisoft already has their hands on the kits for the new Microsoft console and the rumor is there will be an all new Microsoft console out in time for holiday retail 2012. Time flies so fast. It was just yesterday I got my Xbox 360.

Also an entire Sony-owned studio has halted PS3 development entirely and has moved its focus over to the next generation. It sounds like a race. Microsoft got a head start last generation and it helped sales considerably, so maybe Sony will try to beat them to the punch this time.
Nintendo won’t be revealing the final hardware for the WiiU until next summer, but rumors are saying Microsoft might announce the new console as early as January. No word on when Sony will drop the bombshell.
Unfortunately for gamers this will mean crappier games until the new consoles come out. A sure sign of next generation development is when companies put their best developers to work on the next generation of hardware, meaning we will be playing ports, hd remakes, and Bass Pro Shop hunting games until the next console is out =(
